 Going Nowhere

DAY 80 June 4

S0 - apparently I still have some inclination towards problem freak out instead of problem solving. Yesterday was new stove delivery day. Just one problem. Didn't fit the spot where the old one came out. Counter needs to be shaved 1/4". When this happened I leaned on Frank to confront Trail Appliances. (A salesman had told me to call the counter people. Took no responsibility for this situation.) Frank was great! Got nowhere with the manager though. A guy called Rob is coming tomorrow to do it.

So it's in the middle of the kitchen. We had Bistro Taiyo last night. And will heat pies from Thrifty's (in the trusty toaster oven) for tonight.

Got my hair cut! Below before and after. Char is the best.

Bought a lovely T-Shirt from Artzi Stuff and Photo Mount cards from Iron Oxide.

DAY 85 June 9

Rain beating down. Dray Tate is singing 'A Change Is Gonna Come' at George Floyd's Funeral. (televised live).
I listened to a forum by yesterday. Feminists Deliver

The photo is of a Black Lives Matter rally last Friday in Nanaimo. I was there briefly. Speeches made it feel like a real community event.
The protests and rallies have been going on for 10 days now. Exploding around the world protesting police brutality against Black people.
On a different topic I am loving my new calming and releasing yoga practice. Ordered a book on Pranayama - eg. breathing techniques yoga style.
Accepted by first shift at work since March 26. It's a 4 hour Respite on Friday. Just my speed for right now. Really I have a new life. And that was the piece that made it official.

Found another person (in Vernon) doing a sunflower project. She wants to plant 1 million Sunflowers. Great!

DAY 94 June 18

Last Sunday I was treated to lunch at Unsworthy Vineyards near Cobble Hill in Cowichan Valley by my daughter. It was cold, we sat on the deck anyway, and had great conversation, food and wine. Fabulous area to drive through too.

On Tuesday we did our last Pot Banging at 7:00 to thank the Frontline workers. It was time. And it was fun for many weeks. Jim, Alma, Barbara, 3rd Floor neighbour and Frank and I were a delightful little band of devotees. Sometimes we could hear others. Sometimes the ferries rang their horn. And often the church up the hill rang its bells.

Lots of rain the last week.

I did my first (small) shift today. It went just fine. It was nice to be back.

We still Zoom with Vancouver on Thursdays. And Meghan will come here for Father's Day Lunch and football on Sunday. Hopefully we can BBQ some lamb too.

Yoga continues to be wonderful and inspiring. Back to tai chi in a parking lot too.

Life is weird but OK.

My 70th birthday - is officially an Unbirthday.
