THE BUNS

1. THE PARSONAGE                                     Score: 10
Bun: fresh Mount Royal sesame bagel
Contents: Egg, cheese, bacon, creamed spinach
Price: $7.50
Ambience: good music, nice cafe cosy atmosphere, window seat
Comments: So good in every way!

2. FOL EPI                                                       Score: 8
Bun: soft brioche with black seeds on it
Contents: Egg, cheddar and Alpindon cheese, tomato jam, garlic mayo, bacon
Price: $8
Ambience: Christmasy, urban sophisticated
Comments: soggy, very salty, bit garlicky - embellished but still quite good

3. FANTASTICO                                           Score: 7
Bun: white peasant Portofino
Contents: egg, guacamole (too spicy), cheese bland but melted well, bacon(crisp, tender, good, from Whole Beast). lettuce
Price: Up from $10.50 to $12!
Ambience: Bob Marley, good waiting area, particularly good service
Comments: Spicy guac was a turn off. Meghan experienced a sudden big crunch in hers. The bun wasn't the best choice. Otherwise quite good

4. RUTH & DEAN                                        Score: 3
Bun: Biscuit made on premises.
Contents: Egg, avocado, tomato, cheese?, bacon and chimichurri
Price: ? Bacon $3 extra (up $1 from last summer)
Ambience: Lovely small bôite, deserted due to pandemic. The music was nice.
Comments: This wasn't a sandwich as it could not be picked up and put in mouth. The biscuit was nice looking and fresh but much too tall. The egg was greasy and hard. And the chimichurri was very garlicky and vinegary and dominated and ruined the flavour palette. Not a good one!
